Kia Unveils EV3 Tiny SUV with Advanced ChatGPT-Powered AI Voice Assistant”
The EV3 tiny SUV was presented by South Korean
automaker Kia. One of the standout features is the
company's first AI voice assistant for its fleet of
electric vehicles. According to reports, ChatGPT, a
generative AI chatbot from Microsoft-backed
OpenAI, powers the AI helper.
Pablo Martinez, the head of customer experience design at Kia, stated in a statement to TechCrunch that ChatGPT from OpenAI is the large language model (LLM) behind the company's AI assistant. But, he said that it has been "heavily modified." An improved version of the AI-powered voice assistant on the EV3 SUV was first introduced on
company's small car, the Kia K4. The voice assistant gave users new ways to engage with and manage the integrated functions of the car. Kia's voice assistant can now converse with users in a more natural way thanks to the technology's incorporation of generative AI.
According to Kia, users of AI voice assistants can take advantage of the generative capabilities to schedule travel, manage the entertainment system in their cars, and perform information searches. According to Kia, the voice assistant's generative AI integration will first be available for the EV3 model before expanding to include the other of the company's electric vehicles. The ChatGPT-enabled Kia EV3 is scheduled to go on sale in July in the company's home nation, with a European release in the “second half of the year.” Though the business has not officially confirmed it, TechCrunch reported that Kia plans to extend the EV3 model's sales into further locations.
