Narendra Modi's Historic Third Term: BJP-Led NDA to Form Government After 2024 Election Victory
Election outcome 2024: According to media reports, on June 8, Narendra Modi is scheduled to take the oath of office as India's prime minister for a third term. The new government is expected to take an oath on the same day, according to the article. The Union cabinet led by Prime Minister Modi on June 5 suggested dissolving the 17th Lok Sabha, whose term ends on June 16, a day after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared.
Citing sources, ANI stated that the formation of the NDA government and PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony are expected to happen on June 8, with approval from both the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU), the parties who could be considered "kingmakers." During an alliance meeting, both parties are scheduled to formally submit letters of support to the BJP. In 2024, the BJP won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha. Despite the party's inability to gain a majority, the NDA has managed to secure 295 seats collectively through the support of its coalitions. There were 231 members of the INDIA bloc. Against the predictions of the exit poll, the BJP-led NDA faced stiff resistance from the INDIA bloc.
The party's total was far less than the 282 seats it had gained in 2014 and its 2019 total of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, saw a significant increase, gaining 99 seats as opposed to 52 in 2019 and 44 in 2014. When the votes from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were tallied, the BJP was 32 seats short of the 272 majority. This is the first time the BJP has not won a majority on its own since it stormed to power in 2014.
The NDA is scheduled to meet today to discuss tactics for upcoming political actions. At 3:30 pm, the leaders of the NDA are expected to convene at the home of Prime Minister Modi. In an earlier statement on June 4, Prime Minister Modi praised the populace for their mandate and said that the BJP-led NDA would establish India's third consecutive administration, citing the victory of Viksit Bharat, "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas," and the people's unwavering faith in the country's Constitution.
It has been verified that the NDA is forming the government for the third time on this holy day. We are appreciative of the people for having complete faith in the BJP and NDA. This is the triumph of the biggest democracy in the world, a testament to the people's unwavering faith in India's Constitution, and a testament to Viksit Bharat's fortitude. 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' has won,' he declared during his speech at the BJP headquarters.
